In this presentation, Professor Clerkin will explore the results and implications of a recent nationwide study of the effects of political competition on charitable donations. The more “purple” a county (the closer it is to 50% voting democrat and 50% republican in the 2008 and 20012 elections) the lower the average total amount of donations by residents of the county.
