Bringing North Carolina’s Criminal Code into the 21st Century

  April 8, 2019, 12:00 PM-1:00 PM

John Locke Foundation, 200 West Morgan St, Raleigh, North Carolina 27601

More than two hundred years of patchwork legislation and judicial interpretation in North Carolina have created a criminal code that is sprawling, ill-defined, and outdated. It’s time for an overhaul. Mike Schietzelt, the John Locke Foundation’s Legal Fellow, will discuss the root causes of these problems, how to solve them, and how to prevent them from recurring.

Shaftesbury Society will take a short hiatus to allow us to complete our office move to midtown Raleigh. Be on the look-out for an email notifying you of the first presentation in our new location.
