They’re Not Convinced

Two weeks ago we told you about the Jon Sanders column in the Raleigh News & Observer that creatively poked fun at opposition to a proposed Western Civilization program at UNC-Chapel Hill, funded by the John William Pope Foundation. It turns out not everyone thought it was clever, as evidenced by the N&O’s Sunday edition, which included multiple rebuttal letters. Among the writers was Barbara Harris, professor of history and women’s studies at UNC-CH. Harris ended her letter with this: “It is unfortunate that the Pope Foundation is engaged in this misleading attack on the College of Arts and Sciences.”
