The Right Type of Event

posted on

It’s really all about timing. A felicitous invitation to the former Governor from Connecticut, John Rowland, to talk about his downfall. In his visit to Raleigh, Rowland told his cautionary tale of political corruption which proved quite the backdrop to the Geddings trial, where local elected officials make up an interesting cast of characters. The Media saw the connection. An AP story was picked up in a variety of places, including the Herald-Sun, and The Day — a daily in the Conn. Gov’s home state.  Fox21 and the News & Observer also carried stories on the event.  And if you didn’t read about the ethical questions circling around Raleigh in one of these papers, maybe you caught Don Carrington on Lockwood Phillips. Another type of event that posted a good crowd was the FreedomNet conference.  The instant information provided by the growing pajamas media, as some playfully refer to them as, has become a staple product for news gluttons. JLF is doing their part to expose North Carolinians to this growing and important new feature of the information age. Read a nice overview of the event from a biased Headline Speaker, the Rather Reaper himself: Scott Johnson of PowerLine.
