Teacher pay, Medicaid expansion, Map Act lawsuit, and other JLF research interests

Syndicated columnist Patrick Gannon cited teacher pay proposals from John Locke Foundation Director of Research and Education Studies Terry Stoops. The Kernersville News published Stoops’ column on why N.C. teachers leave their jobs. The Heartland Institute interviewed Stoops about recent recommendations from North Carolina’s review commission studying controversial Common Core public school standards. Stoops served as an education policy panelist for the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Raleigh program. He addressed the role of think tanks in the public policy process during a presentation to an audience of undergraduate education students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The N.C. Spin website and state Senate Republicans promoted Health and Human Services Policy Analyst Katherine Restrepo‘s column on the human costs of Medicaid expansion. Restrepo discussed direct primary care in a speech to the Raleigh Optimist Club. Restrepo released a new Spotlight report on direct primary care.

Senate Republicans promoted Director of Regulatory Studies Jon Sanders‘ column on the link between occupational licensing restrictions and income inequality.
