Among the more interesting ideas N.C. legislators have put forward late in this year’s legislative session is the Senate-sponsored Taxpayer Protection Act, which would ask voters to add government taxation and spending limits into the state constitution. John Locke Foundation Director of Fiscal Policy Studies Sarah Curry discussed the legislation during an appearance on Time Warner Cable News’ statewide “Capital Tonight” program. Curry also spoke about the importance of federalism during Americans for Prosperity’s recent “Defending the Dream” summit.

The Asheville Citizen-Times quoted Health and Human Services Policy Analyst Katherine Restrepo in an article about certificate-of-need reform in North Carolina. The Kernersville News published Restrepo’s latest CON column, along with Director of Research and Education Studies Terry Stoops‘ column on state government’s takeover of operations within the Halifax County public schools. NCPoliticalNews.com picked up Restrepo’s research newsletter on Republican presidential candidates’ plans to repeal and replace Obamacare and Stoops’ newsletter on the political use of teacher vacancy data in North Carolina.

The Christian Post quoted Stoops in an article about public opposition to Common Core public school standards. N.C. Senate Republicans’ daily press email cited Director of Regulatory Studies Jon Sanders‘ column on making an accurate assessment of the costs associated with renewable energy sources.
