Sea levels, debt relief, school board politics attract researchers’ attention

The News & Observer published this week an op-ed from Patrick Michaels of the Cato Institute tied to his recent John Locke Foundation report debunking myths about rising North Carolina sea levels. The Beaufort Observer and N.C. Senate Republicans also highlighted that research.

Director of Fiscal Policy Studies Fergus Hodgson spent an hour on WFAE Radio this week promoting the proposed National Debt Relief Amendment with Mike Collins of the “Charlotte Talks” program. Both the Charlotte Observer and Winston-Salem Journal published an editorial about compensation for eugenics-based forced sterilization victims that referenced JLF’s work on the issue.

The N&O‘s “WakeEd” blog quoted Director of Research and Education Studies Terry Stoopsanalysis of the Wake County school board’s decision to fire superintendent Tony Tata. Stoops also offered insight for a Heartland Institute article about teacher evaluations in Denver. N.C. Senate Republicans highlighted Stoops’ column on expanding school choice for students “in the middle.”

Director of Regulatory Studies Jon Sanders discussed hydraulic fracturing for shale gas during a presentation to the Apex Rotary Club.
