School-Funding Gap Prompts Response

In response to the Public School Forum’s annual Local School Finance Study (must be ordered, online), JLF issued a press release challenging the study’s findings.   A key problem with the study, said JLF’s education
policy analyst Terry Stoops and NCEA director Lindalyn Kakadelis,
is that it deals only with county funding to schools, and excludes the large allocations from state and federal funding. Both Stoops and Kakadelis took their message to the media
– Stoops was interviewed by News 14 and the N&O, as well as being quoted in Asheville’s Citizen-Times, and on NC Spin; Kakadelis was interviewed by the AP.
