State and local government planners employ a strategy known as demand-side management to manipulate people’s behavior. Roy Cordato, John Locke Foundation Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar, discussed this strategy in a recent report. The Lincoln Tribune published the press release associated with that report this week. The Lincoln Tribune also promoted an assessment from Terry Stoops, Director of Education Studies, about new draft social studies standards for North Carolina public schools. Stoops discussed the state’s United States history curriculum during a presentation to the Sunshine Lunch Group. The Witty Sparks website promoted videos linked to ObamaCare from Joseph Coletti and Daren Bakst, Director of Legal and Regulatory Studies. Bakst also noted this week that the N.C. Utilities Commission agreed with his argument that thermal energy from biomass should not be used to help meet renewable energy requirements tied to Senate Bill 3. “This is a nice victory because it  keeps the Commission from making up laws and also because it makes it more difficult to comply with S.B. 3,” Bakst writes.
