A recent Rocky Mount Telegram editorial cited the John Locke Foundation’s support for reform of North Carolina’s electoral redistricting process. (Groups as disparate as the conservative John Locke Foundation and the much more liberal NAACP have pressed for a fairer way to determine district lines for the N.C. House, N.C. Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives.)

The Richmond County Daily Journal picked up Carolina Journal Publisher Jon Ham‘s column on the importance of media outlets promoting First Amendment rights. The Kernersville News published JLF Senior Political Analyst Mitch Kokai‘s review of the Revolutionary-era military history book Band of Giants.

The Carolinas Full Throttle website promoted CJ Executive Editor Don Carrington‘s article on concerns surrounding a plan to add toll lanes to Interstate 77 north of Charlotte. The Carolina Partnership for Reform website and N.C. Senate Republicans cited Associate Editor Barry Smith‘s article on the feud between Gov. Pat McCrory and Senate Majority Leader Harry Brown over a sales tax distribution plan.

The Senate GOP also highlighted JLF Chairman John Hood‘s columns on education standards and North Carolina’s likely March 15 presidential primary, along with CJ Associate Editor Dan Way‘s articles on SAS officials and renewable energy tax credits, the absence of state rules for solar energy equipment waste disposal, and a Senate budget provision promoting state and local government transparency. NCPoliticalNews.com cited the fiscal transparency article.
