Meck Deck blogger Jeff Taylor earned more radio time on WBT this week with a discussion of Charlotte City Council’s failure to exercise oversight of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. WPTF News interviewed John Locke Foundation communications director Mitch Kokai about North Carolina’s $545 million share of a federal “stimulus” project targeting high-speed rail transportation. Meanwhile, the Laurinburg Exchange recently published a column on tax reform from John Locke Foundation Vice President for Research and Resident Scholar Roy Cordato. Cape Fear Business News is among the publications that picked up a new column from Legal and Regulatory Policy Analyst Daren Bakst focusing on use of the “race card” in forced annexation disputes. The WNC Sentinel recently noted research from Education Policy Analyst Terry Stoops that rated the Clay County public school system as the most “parent-friendly” district in North Carolina. In conjunction with Newt Gingrich’s appearance at the John Locke Foundation’s 20th anniversary dinner in Cary this month, the New Bern Sun Journal highlighted JohnLocke.org as its “Web site of the day.” Speaking of Gingrich, mefeedia.com featured his JLF speech in an episode of the American Conservative University podcast. In other news, the Liberty Point Web site noted JLF’s role in a recent public presentation on the Libertarian Party’s legal battle against North Carolina’s restrictive ballot-access laws.
