Local governments are ambivalent about growth.  First they want – they want it so badly that they dole out incentives for it – and then they shun it by enacting development moratoriums, impact fees, transfer taxes, and Smart Growth bologna ordinances. Many of our staff have spent time fighting both sides of our state’s view of growth.  Recently, Chad Adams spoke with Matt Mittan of WWNC-AM about Jackson County’s moratorium and proposed restrictive ordinances, after having already spoken in person with many of the county’s concerned citizens. While some of the fastest growing counties in our state try their best to demonize growth, people keep coming. In fact, its likely that this growth will lead to a new congressional seat. Chad spoke with News14 and Danny Fontana in Charlotte about this possibility.
