A Watauga County “mountain man” is running into government regulatory roadblocks as he tries to teach the rules of primitive living on his private property. Carolina Journal Executive Editor Don Carrington‘s report on this regulatory dispute attracted attention from Lucianne.com. Carrington also discussed the mountain man’s plight, along with a separate investigation into questionable voter registration drives involving state mental hospitals, during an appearance with Matt Mittan on WZGM/WHKP Radio.

Meanwhile, the Durham Herald-Sun quoted CJ Publisher Jon Ham in an article discussing high-profile assault cases along the city’s American Tobacco Trail. The Beaufort Observer cited Ham’s blog entry on U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan‘s response to recent Obamacare developments.

The Kernersville News published John Locke Foundation Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray‘s CJ column on un-American attacks against religion

N.C. Senate Republicans cited in their daily press emails CJ Associate Editor Dan Way‘s report on new gubernatorial appointments, contributor Sara Burrows‘ article on UNC Health Care chief executive officer William Roper’s recent presentation about American health care “myths,” and contributor Karen McMahan‘s report on the difficulty of changing North Carolina’s current practice of electing 10 statewide executive branch officials.
