BNA Transportation Watch, a web site featuring transportation information and resources, has published a story about the condition of North Carolina’s roads, based on the recent JLF policy report from Dr. David Hartgen at UNC-Charlotte. Hartgen’s study of state-owned roads between 1998 and 2004, and bridge decks from 1998-2002, concluded that conditions vary widely from county to county, with narrow lanes and shoulders more common in the western mountain areas.
