JLF Opines on Past and Emerging Issues

Don Carrington expects further legal action
in case of the excavation of an area of the Currituck Sound
without authorization, a violation of federal environmental laws.
Stay tuned to see how high up the political tree this story
climbs.  Meanwhile, information on the questionable ethics of Speaker of the House Jim Black continues to mount.  John Hood commented on the issue on WPTF-AM and with the Winston-Salem JournalPaul Chesser, breaking into the blogosphere, highlighted on NewsBusters.org
the imbalance of the mainstream media’s coverage of the ethics
violation of California Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham.  This story
has made top news headlines across the country, while the sentencing of
former U.S. Rep Frank Ballance barely made its way into national news.  The ethics violations of Ballance, instead of garnering national admonitions, have earned him a farewell luncheon.  Other issues of note include the support by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole of the TTA light rail boondoggle and the growing concern in the state over illegal immigrants.  Hood spoke to the Durham Herald-Sun about the TTA and the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce on the future of immigration.  Chad Adams talked to WB22 about the hubbub surrounding the 1,000th execution in the nation since the reinstatement of the death penalty.
