As the John Locke Foundation’s 25th anniversary approaches, longtime Executive Vice President Kory Swanson is being promoted to president and CEO. Longtime President John Hood will maintain his position as chairman of JLF’s Board of Directors. The Associated Press, Raleigh News & Observer, N.C. News Network, and Wilmington Star-News reported on the change.

The Star-News also interviewed Hood for an article contrasting infrastructure improvements geared toward new business with targeted tax incentives that benefit particular companies. WRAL.com sought Hood’s expertise for a story about this weekend’s vote for the next N.C. House speaker.  N.C. Senate Republicans’ daily press email promoted Hood’s columns on “red vs. blue” states and the importance of pursuing policies that promote long-term growth.

The Senate GOP also took note of Carolina Journal Associate Editor Barry Smith‘s article on the lack of funding for a state academic standards commission, along with contributor Jesse Saffron‘s story on the difficulty of ending low-productivity degree programs in the University of North Carolina system.

The N.C. Spin website highlighted Associate Editor Dan Way‘s article on a poll related to Medicaid expansion. CarolinaPlotthound.com cited Way’s report on continuing concerns about potential corruption in the Indian Trail town government. NCPoliticalNews.com promoted Mitch Kokai’s CJ column reviewing George Gilder’s latest book, Knowledge and Power.
