Interest Widens in Bertie County Education Dispute

Last week, at the request of concerned parents in Bertie County, Lindalyn Kadkadelis spoke to a public hearing about the potential closing of three elementary schools due to a federal court order. This week Kakadelis received a call from the Raleigh News & Observer about the brewing issue, related to whether the county has complied with a 1968 order to desegregate the system. Meantime, Don Carrington’s commentary on the case was published in the Roanoke-Chowan New-Herald.
