Incentive follies, health care issues, governor’s ratings, and more

WRAL.com produced a multipart series this week on North Carolina’s use of targeted tax incentives. Three different stories quoted John Locke Foundation Director of Fiscal Policy Studies Sarah Curry‘s concerns about the use of special giveaways for selected companies. The Daily Caller highlighted one of those stories.

The John Locke Foundation has worked with the Independent Women’s Forum to promote Health Care Solutions Week. JLF Health and Human Services Policy Analyst Katherine Restrepo will focus on health care solutions during an appearance this afternoon with Bill LuMaye on Talk Radio WPTF.

Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray highlighted health issues and other hot political topics during multiple media appearances this week. Gray analyzed Gov. Pat McCrory’s latest approval ratings for Time Warner Cable News’ “Capital Tonight,” and she’ll discuss the future of the state’s Medicaid program, education spending, and the N.C. Supreme Court during this weekend’s edition of the syndicated “N.C. Spin” program. Gray joined Henry Hinton on the WTIB Radio morning program, and she continues twice-weekly politics and public policy updates for WTSB Radio. Gray and John Hood participated in a mock session of “N.C. Spin” for Kenan Fellows at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Director of Education Outreach Lindalyn Kakadelis recently discussed the latest state SAT scores with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio.” Kakadelis addressed the Cabarrus County Republican Women’s group on education issues.

Rick Henderson recaps the week’s top electoral developments for this weekend’s edition of Curtis Media Group’s syndicated “People In Politics” program. Mitch Kokai highlighted the week’s top state government news for Curtis Wright on WMYT Radio.
