Hood’s analysis attracts state, national attention

posted on

When President Obama touted a “new” reform of the federal Head Start program that predecessor George W. Bush had signed into law four years earlier, the Daily Caller sought analysis from John Locke Foundation President John Hood. Hood labeled the ideas used to promote the reform “poppycock.” Hood also shared his observations about national election results with readers of National Review Online’s primary blog, “The Corner.” Closer to home, a Winston-Salem Journal letter writer responded to Hood’s recent column about drug testing for welfare recipients, while a Burlington Times-News letter took issue with Hood’s thoughts about tax myths. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Hood’s columns this week on boosting entrepreneurial activity, results of 2011 gubernatorial elections, and the future of natural-gas drilling in North Carolina.
