Hood enlightens state, national audiences

John Locke Foundation President John Hood continues to offer his expertise to national audiences through his contributions to National Review Online’s blogs, primarily “The Corner.” Posts in that forum have ended up republished this week in TopConservativeBlogs.com, ConservativeBlogWatch.com, LiberalWhoppers.com, and World Actual News. In addition to his national impact, Hood provided analysis this week for a pair of articles in the Wilmington Star-News. The first covered potential changes in the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control system, while the second exposed the silliness of designating a $12 million Cape Fear River fish bypass as a stimulus project. The Randolph Guide cited Hood in an article about Eddie Burks’ U.S. Senate bid. (He quoted political commentator John Hood as saying Burr, despite his many years in office, is still unknown by the people.)N.C. Senate Republicans publicized three of Hood’s Daily Journal columns in daily e-mail updates. The first covered what Hood calls the “prevention legend,” while the second exposed the myth of the University of North Carolina system’s special budget woes. The third explained why Gov. Beverly Perdue should take active steps to distance herself from her predecessor. The North Carolina Republican Senate Committee publicized that same column in a news release.
