A column in the Richmond County Daily Journal critiqued Sarah Curry’s analysis of the county’s proposal to raise the local sales tax rate to fund a Rockingham athletic complex. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Curry’s column on the seven sales tax votes scheduled in counties across North Carolina this fall, along with Director of Regulatory Studies Jon Sanders‘ column urging state officials not to use a technicality to block compensation for eugenics victims.

The News & Observer and Southwest Wake News quoted Director of Research and Education Studies Terry Stoops in an article about a teacher who was suspended for writing an opinion column comparing his school to a concentration camp. Chapel Hill’s Daily Tar Heel quoted Stoops for a story about kindergarten assessments. The N.C. Spin website and N.C. Senate Republicans promoted Stoops’ column on budget cuts in the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. The N.C. Spin website also promoted Research Publications Coordinator Julie Gilstrap‘s “Locker Room” blog entry on market-driven innovation in television.
