Carolina Journal and Executive Editor Don Carrington continue to attract attention for their work in exposing dubious deals involving former North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley. The News & Observer and Charlotte Observer both highlighted the John Locke Foundation’s investigative work in exposing the questionable process Easley used to acquire property in the coastal Cannonsgate development. Meanwhile, syndicated columnist Scott Mooneyham credited CJ for its leadership in the investigation. (The former governor’s purchase of a waterfront lot on Bogue Sound always smelled, from the time that the Carolina Journal, a publication of the John Locke Foundation, first revealed that Easley appeared to have gotten a better deal than surrounding property owners.)
