Do We Really Have a Teacher Shortage Crisis?

Not really, writes Karen Palasek in the new Spotlight report, “Truth on Teacher Shortage.” In fact, the “exponential growth” in public school enrollment discussed by Gov. Mike Easley isn’t backed up by projections from the National Center for Education Statistics. According to NCES, our state’s schools will have an enrollment decline after 2007 – mostly due to an aging population.
