Carolina Journal’s work promoted

posted on

While Carolina Journal has played the lead role in exposing the dubious group of “flight providers” associated with Gov. Beverly Perdue’s campaign, other outlets have picked up the story. The Triadwatch blog followed Don Carrington’s lead recently in discussing the impact of free flights provided to Perdue as she ran for office. Speaking of Carrington, the News & Observer interviewed him for an article about the N.C. Department of Justice’s poor record in responding to public-records requests. In other CJ-related news, the Lincoln Tribune and Daily Sheeple website promoted Associate Editor Sara Burrows‘ article on a hot dog vendor jailed in Durham for operating his business without a license. The Lincoln Tribune also published Burrows’ exclusive on the negative impacts of North Carolina’s certificate-of-need law. The Lincoln Tribune promoted Video News Editor Anthony Greco‘s report on a controversy surrounding energy-efficiency mandates for new home construction. The Lincoln Tribune and WGHP Television blog picked up contributor Karen McMahan‘s report detailing concerns North Carolina dog breeders have registered about a recent referendum in Missouri. NC Rumors promoted Rick Henderson’s recent CJ Friday interview about money wasted on federal stimulus road signs, while UnitedStatesGovernors.net highlighted a video clip of Henderson discussing Perdue’s unpaid flight controversy. The Lincoln Tribune also published Mitch Kokai’s article on the state Revenue Department’s report that it will need new state legislation to issue $2.3 million in income tax refunds to 7,000 taxpayers.
