Analyst: Class Size a Non Sequitur in Achievement

posted on

That’s what JLF’s Terry Stoops concludes after reviewing the
N.C. Board of Education’s final report of the High Priority Schools
Initiative, a four-year, $23 million class-size reduction program
targeting 36 low-performing and low-income elementary schools.
The Spotlight‘s unequivocal conclusion made the airwaves on WPTF and WECT-Wilmington, and gained mention in the Dunn Daily Record.  With the school construction issue still boiling, Stoops, in the Charlotte Observer, recommended
diverting class-size reduction funds to school construction, an idea
expounded upon with Kakadelis at meetings with Forysth and Wake County
officials.
