  July 31, 2017, 12:00 PM-1:00 PM

John Locke Foundation, 200 W. Morgan Street, 2nd Floor, Raleigh, North Carolin 27601

The word “popularity” has the power to transport us back to our teenage years, but those same dynamics still affect our lives today.  We still encounter most and least popular people in every office, every community group, and every neighborhood.  Research suggests that the experiences we had as teens are still affecting us today in ways that we may not expect, with significant implications for all of our personal and professional relationships.  Research also has revealed that there are two different types of popularity, and many of us may be pursuing the wrong one.  This talk by the author of Popular: The Power of Likability in a Status-Obsessed World will reveal how we can address popularity dynamics in our past and today to lead happier, more successful, and healthier lives.
