There is little debate that high-stakes testing has a powerful influence on mainstream curriculum. Given this reality, what types of texts and authors should the most important exams, such as the SAT and ACT, point to? Jeremy Tate, founder of the Classic Learning Test (a new alternative to the SAT and ACT), will discuss the history of the SAT and ACT, their influence in American education, and the need for a fresh alternative that points students, parents, and educators back to the humanities.
