Recently, some very reliable surveys have shown that there are distinct divisions among groups in the United States over the protection of classical liberal values, especially the protection of free speech rights. In this presentation, Professor Cushman of Wake Forest University will argue that these differences in support of free speech represent a major fault line in the polarization of the U.S. population and that this polarization is likely to be an enduring one in the years ahead.
