North Carolina surgeon, Dr. Gajendra Singh, opened an imaging center to provide safe, affordable imaging services to patients at transparent prices. He is allowed to have an X-ray machine, ultrasound machines, and a CT scanner, but the state’s “certificate of need” (CON) law bans him from purchasing an MRI scanner to protect established providers from competition. Dr. Singh, joined by his attorney, Josh Windham from the Institute for Justice, will discuss his mission, the importance of competition in the healthcare industry, and his recent lawsuit challenging North Carolina’s MRI-CON requirement.
