Equality, Liberty and the Quest for Human Dignity

  March 9, 2020, 12:00 PM-1:00 PM

John Locke Foundation, 4800 Six Forks Rd, Suite 221, Raleigh, North Carolina 27609

Growing concern about inequality has led to proposals to remake the American economy and society, embracing egalitarian values. In this presentation, Professor Robert Whaples will consider the quicksand on which modern egalitarian ideas rest, and the self-serving interest they often promote. He will look at measures of inequality in the U.S. economy, consider the causes of inequality, distinguish “bad” inequality from “good” inequality, and consider how to address inequality in light of the inherent dignity of each human being.
