Legislative retirements, award-winning election coverage, and United Nations recruitment

posted on

More North Carolina lawmakers are announcing plans not to seek re-election in 2016. The growing list of legislative retirees prompted Time Warner Cable News’ statewide “Capital Tonight” program to seek expert analysis this week from Carolina Journal Managing Editor Rick Henderson. Henderson and John Locke Foundation Vice President for Marketing and Communications Donna Martinez recap the week’s top political developments during this weekend’s edition of Curtis Media Group’s syndicated “People In Politics” program. Meanwhile, Martinez and Henderson learned this week that they earned first-place awards from the Radio and Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas for their work on the N.C. News Network’s 2014 election night broadcast.

Director of Research and Education Studies Terry Stoops discussed efforts to recruit public school teachers to promote the United Nations’ sustainability agenda during a conversation with Lockwood Phillips on WTKF’s “Viewpoints Radio.” Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray continues her twice-weekly politics and public policy updates for WTSB Radio listeners.
